House in a Wall is a project designed in 2011 by the architect Sergio Koch in Porto, Portugal on a street corner with stone walls surrounding it and a height that doesn’t go much above that of the walls to maintain a visual unity when seen from the street.

The two streets have a difference of elevation and this permits the entrance to be placed without the need for large earth movements. The house is reached by passing through an interior courtyard that leads to the garage and home entrance, separating the structure from the buildings to the east.

The walls have a sufficient height to ensure the privacy of the inhabitants but they aren’t too high so that they still offer a view of the tree canopies and sky. The interior has three bedrooms, a living area, a kitchen and a home office, with all divisions oriented toward the west garden where the indoor swimming pool is located.
