The Fisht Olympic Stadium is named after the Mount Fisht and is located in the Sochi Olympic Park offering a 40000 seat capacity.

The project was designed by the Populous architectural practice in collaboration with the Buro Happold design consultancy firm with the main purpose of hosting the venue for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Sochi, Russia.

The open-air stadium has walls and roof built as a continuous glass surface in order to reflect the sunlight off the nearby Black Sea during the daytime and the roof opens toward the north to offer a view of the Krasnaya Ployana Mountains as well as hosting an upper deck for a view of the Sea.

The project opened in 2013 and its cost was of 779 million dollars with the purpose of serving as a training center and match venue for the national Russian football team after the Olympic Games.
