The practice of MANICA architecture collaborated with Snohetta at the creation of a new arena that would serve as the home of the Golden State Warriors basketball team in San Francisco improving the original design with a new look.

The first plan was criticized for having compositional elements that allude to the shape of a toilet, so the designers reconfigured the project after which it was presented to the citizens’ advisory committee for approval. The original site was on the piers 30-32 next to the Bay Bridge Overpass but then it was relocated in the Mission Bay district.

Extensive landscaping surrounds the arena with 3.2 acres of public plazas and a 5.5 acre waterfront park across. The main arena is a sports center but it will also host concerts, conventions and entertainment events with retail and eating places in its vicinity. The capacity of the sports center is of 18064 seats and the scheme includes an office/biotech/lab area as well.
