The practice of Joao Tiago Aguiar arquitectos was commissioned in 2004 to transform the former headquarters of the Portuguese Television in Lisbon into a five star hotel with a contemporary aesthetic that would take full advantage of the building’s scale and monumentality.

The layout of the building led to the separation of three distinct zones: the basement, the ground and first floor and the tower, distributing the programs according to this setting so that the three levels below the street were used for parking and for the technical facilities.

The ground floor hosts the public areas and the social parts of the hotel, namely three restaurants, a bar, meeting and conference rooms, spa, hairdresser and beauty salon as well as rooms for playing, reading or watching TV.

The roof is used as a terrace with an open air swimming pool, lounge and bar and the tower contains the 264 rooms and 31 suites spread over 12 floors.
