The beautiful Villa A is located on the slope of the Poestling Berg, a mountain overlooking Linz, the capital of Upper Austria. The building’s street façade is made of natural stonework that offers all the privacy you need while the other side of the villa overlooks the city, offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the surroundings.
A small pond near the villa seems to enchant the surroundings. Being on the slope of a mountain, the house is partly carved in the ground. The central hall offers access to the dining area with an open kitchen. The hall also leads to the living area that overlooks the swimming pool and the city.
It was designed by Najjar & Najjar Architects and they wanted to offer different functions into one place – the open living area. The basement floor is partly carved in ground and it’s the perfect space for fitness and other sports activities. It also offers enough space for an office and a playroom for kids.
The outdoor and indoor areas seem blurred by the sliding elements and the scale glazing. On the upper levels you can gain access to the bedrooms by using the stairs. On the north side of the building there is the access road. Under it the parking garage and the machine room are dug in.
The villa has a sustainable design. It fits the standards, being eco friendly. The roof is a structure made of steel with aluminum panel cladding. The cantilevers help protect against the sun during summertime. During winter the sun light is used to warm up the interior space. Sun collectors and panels on the roof help save energy combined with a recuperator in the ground.
