The Praha Strizkov tube station located in Prague, The Czech Republic was designed in 2008 by the Patrik Kotas Atelier to improve the public transport infrastructure in the constantly growing city.
The project is easily noticeable due to the impressive façade manufactured by Schuco and there is a constant visual connection with the outdoors due to the glazed surfaces of the building. The aesthetic chosen for the project is a futuristic one in which there is a main hall with a surface of 160 x 42 meters and a roof construction hung above it with the aid of two different arched rod systems.
The vault is supporting the roof through a system of short bars that perform the static function and an additional system of longer rods that incorporate springs to reduce the overall tension of the support structure. The material chosen for the façade is high-insulation FW 50+ HI mullion-transom.
