The Tropical House project was completed in 2012 and it consists of a luxury house in the state of Gujarat, India.
The project was designed by the Indian practice of Hiren Patel Architects and they tried to create a house that is in symbiosis with the tropical surroundings and the nearby Ocean and also transport some of the area’s ambiance inside.
The designers created a passage covered with plants that is the entrance to a vestibule and an open verandah that faces a lawn and several other vegetation spots on three of its sides. The vestibule gives access to the family room and the living room and the verandah is also an extension of the living room thus providing an open floor structure to the ensemble that also links with the exterior.
This complex composed of the living room, dining room and the verandah make up the central structure of the house and from it a passage leads to the bedrooms and courtyard on opposite sides. The courts between rooms increase the space of the interiors, allow better natural light to enter and also offer cross ventilation. The backside of the house also features a swimming pool and several flower courts.
