The lack of space forces the designers to find alternative solutions for storage to increase the functionality of the apartments and this loft in New York was definitely a challenge for the designers Margarita McGrath and Scott Oliver from the Noroof Architects practice.
The entire apartment has a surface of 640 square feet and the rooms are narrow. This forced the designers to come up with solutions to ensure the loft had all the necessary amenities and was flexible enough.
The children’s room is the smallest and it also needed a desk where they could do their homework, so an ingenious piece of furniture alternates between the bed and the desk to cover less space and integrate the two needed areas.
Each room employs flexible designs with the bookcase in the living room hiding a desk, vertical storage spaces in the kitchen and the bedroom floor itself hides a secret storage space.
