The Vodafone headquarters from Portugal can be found in Avenida da Boavista in Porto (Oporto), the namesake of Port wine and Portugal’s second global city after Lisbon. Architects José António Barbosa and Pedro Guimarães of Barbosa Guimarães Arquitectos designed the modern headquarters.
The building is a combination of contemporary architecture and Vodafone’s image. The architects started their project with Vodafone’s motto: Vodafone Life, Life in Motion”. The design is peculiar and spectacular in the same time because it seems to mock gravity, looking as if it’s out of balance. The building has 8 floors,3 of which are underground.
It seems as if the building fell from the sky and crashed into the site. The structure, at least the outer skin of it, looks as if it was left unfinished. The interior has many variations of angular spaces that look like the ones found at Hotel Silken Puerta América in Madrid.
