The practice of AC Martin Partners designed the new Wilshire Grand tower in the financial district of Los Angeles, California as was recently announced by Korean Air. The tower is replacing the old Wilshire Grand and the new one will try to continue the legacy and also bring business and travel to a new standard.

The project cost raises to one billion dollars and the tower will have 73 stories and 1100 feet thus becoming the tallest building in Chicago once it will be inaugurated. The space for restaurants and retail will begin at street level and the office spaces will be placed in the middle section while the top part will host a luxury hotel.

One of the most interesting parts of its design is the hotel sky lobby at the 70th floor and the hotel shall also include rooftop dining and entertainment. The elevator shafts are reinforced with concrete to allow them to function even during fires for a faster evacuation.

The construction of the tower will be started this year and it is planned to be completed in 2017.
