Mexico City has now yet another interesting restaurant called Tori Tori, designed by Rojkind Arquitectos and Esrawe Studio. The Tori Tori place is a Japanese restaurant and most people think that it’s one of the best restaurants in all Mexico City. Thanks to this success the owners decided to move the place in a more important and bigger location near the same area of Polanco,Mexico City.
Architect Michel Rojkind and Industrial Designer Hector Esrawe signed up for the project and the results are more than satisfying.
Polanco is in a perpetual development since this area has suffered some changes: house that have been turned to restaurants and office spaces etc.
The client aimed for a Japanese themed restaurant but he decided to give the architects the green light if they had any additions or other ideas in designing the place. This is how the restaurant turned into a modern, cosmopolitan place that is filled with open spaces and beautiful, large terraces, it also has a beautiful sake bar and a temple that is made especially for the sushi fans out there.
Natural vegetation fills the terraces while the façade fits the surroundings and it seems that the façade is the extension of the restaurant making the relationship between the inside and outside collide.
Each room in the restaurant is unique and it is delimited by the function that is has. The pieces of furniture were designed in such a way to represent each room with a different, personal style. It took the designers 8 months to create the collection of chairs and tables for Tori Tori but their effort paid off.
