Nico Van Der Meulen Architects have designed House Serengeti,a residence located in Johannesburg,South Africa. Its mixed architectural design is the first thing that draws attention, since it uses raw materials, a neutral colour palette and refined finishes that bring all these together.
The architects aimed to design a comfortable, contemporary residence, that had a family oriented style. They also used a sustainable design and highlighted the indoor-outdoor living since we all know that Johannesburg is blessed with “an eight month summer”.
There are three family bedrooms and they are all upstairs, while the guest room can be found downstairs. The residence is a double storey building and all the bedrooms are en-suite.Privacy is another key element in the design of this place.
House Serengeti also hosts the art of van der Meulen’s brother, Regardt, represented by beautiful sculptures and flamboyant pendant lights that can be found above the dining room.
