This marvelous residence called the Vaucluse House can be found in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia and it is the work of the Sydney-based studio MPR Design Group, a uniquely designed four levels luxury home. The challenge that the architects had to face was the topography of the site.
The residence seems to be formed from horizontal layers with the main materials used being steel, hewn sandstone and glass. The main living zone is on the top floor, a key location since it offers an 180 degree view of the harbour and the city. The architects wanted to make this house stand out and with the design and materials its definitely a contrast from its surroundings.
Air conditioning has no use for this house because the residence can be opened up completely to the outside, making use of cross ventilation because it’s exposed to the north and west. The bedroom area has a double height foyer and the indoors and outdoors are connected via the outdoor balconies and covered terraces.
