Pier55 is a public park doubling as a performance space in the Lower West Side of Manhattan, New York and it will replace the dilapidated pier 54 with a project created by the English designer Thomas Heatherwick. The architect Thomas Heatherwick unveiled his design for the Al Fayah Park in Abu Dhabi which will be semi-subterranean and will feature a fragmented canopy to provide shading, offering an artificial oasis in the desert and a place for the locals to relax. This proposal for a garden spanning over the Thames River as a new pedestrian bridge was designed by Thomas Heatherwick at Heatherwick Studio after he won a tender from Transport for London to develop ideas to improve the pedestrian passages across the river.
