The Sea Facing Penthouse is a project designed in 2011 by the practice of Abraham John Architects in Mumbai, India and it offers a highly contemporary residence which integrates well with the surroundings while also ensuring a comfortable living for its inhabitants.
The project spreads over a surface of 3500 square feet and it combines two former apartments on the top floor of an older building, bringing the home up to date through fresh colors, natural textures, improved illumination and an open layout.
The palette and materials were chosen to ensure easy maintenance and the furniture inside was custom made. The reclaimed wood used for the screens and pergolas outside, along with the natural stone, recycled tiles and fabrics add to the sustainable features of the design. The outdoor area is accessed through double-glazed sliding windows that provide natural ventilation and there are solar heaters for the colder periods.
The sea can be seen from every room and the living, dining and kitchen areas are integrated into a single lounge that is more open and maintains a better contact with the surroundings.
