The Sauflon Center of Innovation located in Gyal, Hungary was designed in 2013 by the practice of Foldes Architects with a brilliant contemporary architecture which wants to inspire those in the field of science as well as the technological and artistic fields.
The reflections are the key element of the interior, bringing a beautiful dynamic into the passage which covers a length of 24 meters. The designers collaborated with a glass sculptor for the rich effects and the results are definitely impressive.
The industry of contact lens is still highly profitable and Sauflon is a leading producer which wanted to establish a part of their production in Hungary which began in 2005. In March 2012 the company wanted to create an innovation center which would present the latest technologies and five local architectural practices were invited to submit their approach on the project, with the Foldes Architects selected as the winners.
A large glass façade brings light inside and the 10 meter high volume stays open through the passage with a sloped glass surface at the end. The right side hosts the core functions while the upper cantilevered wooden box serves as an auditorium with 32 seats.
