The Olaya House is a residential project located in Llano Grande, 45 minutes away from Medellin city in Colombia and it was designed in 2011 by the architect David Ramirez with a dark brick wall that intersects and contrasts the beige tone of the exterior.
The home hosts a single family and it is spread over two floors with the ground area designed as a united block with clearly defined service, social and private zones. The service area contains the garages, a bedroom for the service personnel, a laundry area and additional storage room.
The main hall is the core of the social area of the house with a large kitchen and a dining area integrated with a door that connects the living space to the outdoor deck. The private section includes three bedrooms with their own toilet, shower and walk-in closet.
The large black stone wall is what separates the social and the private areas indoors and it can be seen from outside while also creating room for an additional bathroom and two chimneys for the main bedroom and for the lounge.
