The Northern Rivers Beach House located in South Golden Beach, Australia was designed in 2014 by the Refresh * Architecture studio as a part of a dual occupancy development with an efficient layout and sustainable elements incorporated.
The design was created with subtropical features for a temperate climate so there are extensive balconies and outdoor vistas with a combination of metallic sheets and wooden surfaces for the façade. The balanced exterior wants to integrate with the landscape around it but still maintain its presence, so the layout spreads over two floors and stands out through the silvery tones.
The complex geometry allows an open interior with a lot of glazed areas and this ensured natural ventilation as well as the needed natural light for the interior. The living area integrates the dining room and kitchen into the same space and it also extends to the balcony with floor to ceiling glass doors and windows that make the greenery outside a part of the ambiance.
