The competition for the design of the Nobel Center next to the central waterfront in Stockholm, Sweden was won by the David Chipperfield architectural practice with a design that offers a single structure next to a public garden.

The Nobelhuset is a project designed to welcome the most important figures in the world of natural sciences, humanities and politics so it is a place of creativity and communication. The top floor hosts an auditorium with a timeless aesthetic combining concrete and wooden textures.

The auditorium is light and open to the surrounding landscape from all sides with panoramic views of the city skyline and its surrounding offer a great place for a stroll or for contemplation due to the abundant vegetation of the public garden. The second floor hosts a museum and the entire project is programmed to begin construction in 2015 with an estimated opening date for December 2018.
