The Ice Hotel in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden is 200km north of the Arctic Circle and the designers Christian Stromqvist and Karl-Johan Ekeroth from PINPIN Studio designed it the third time, now with an aesthetic inspired by the Frankenstein art suite entitled “It’s Alive!”

The hotel tries to recreate the laboratory of a mad genius with tesla coils and various gadgets along with a bed to tie the monster to. Of course, everything is made out of ice and snow transforming the structure into a huge sculpture in which you can take part by playing the doctor or the monster.

The designers want to offer an interactive art experience to the visitors by transforming the horror story into a humoristic one, which also is a metaphor for their work since Dr Frankenstein gave life to dead materials through the use of lightning and the designers want to use the water from the Torne River for a playful rendition of the tale.
