Neel Sutra by Architecture Discipline

The Neel Sutra is a fashion store in New Delhi, India and their interior was designed in 2013 by the practice of Architecture Discipline as the first project in a series of multi-designer stores with collections themed for the area, featuring an Indian design ethos.

The store is in the New Oberoi Hotel which specializes in high-end luxury services and the brief for the project was to provide an interior that would integrate perfectly into the context with a constant concern about stepping away from the Indian kitsch that is usually predominant in the city.

The space needed to be impactful by itself since the exhibits would change constantly and thus a well structured interior combines several types of wood on the ceiling and walls with dark tones and a gray floor. The weaves are reminiscent of the Indian textile design and their layers create a dynamic play which is suitable in the context.
