The Magic Mountain Lodge is an unusual hotel located in the Huilo-Huilo Biological Reserve in the Patagonia region of Chile and is offers a mountain-like resort with 13 rooms that have dormer windows offering an overview of the eco-tourist location and a stone façade covered in vegetation and stone.
There is a water spot pouring over the roof to water the plants on the hotel and the base of the building. The idea for the design came from a local legend about a magical mountain that would grant wishes and indeed the hotel seems to come out of a fairy tale.
There is a bar and restaurant inside as well as a sauna and hot tubs made from hollow tree stumps. The materials for the lodge come from local sources and all the wood was harvested locally. The Huilo-Huilo Biological Reserve spreads over a surface of 600 square kilometers and it is dedicated to preserving the biodiversity and fauna of the region.
