Combining a bright contemporary attic design with vintage elements, this apartment in London, England was created by the Space Riot studio for a client who had a limited budget and thus most of the items inside are recycled.
The floorboards come from an old mill from Yorkshire and they were rough sawn after which they were painted white to integrate with the white walls and ceiling. The furniture pieces come from flea markets and vintage shops around Hackney.
The apartment is accessed though a hallway with a black and white palette which opens to a set of stairs to reach the attic where most of the amenities are located. The hallway offers a classical design that sets the tone but is quite different from the upper level.
Instead of bringing the furniture up to contemporary standards the designers left it as it was to bring a rustic and raw touch to the ambiance and this also enriches the interior giving it a unique personality.
