The Lake’s Restaurant is a Japanese restaurant designed by the practice of mass arquitetura in collaboration with Norea De Vitto in 2012 and it is located in the Esporte Clube Pinheiros in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The project is on a small site between the club and a mall, so the designers tried to integrate the restaurant into the landscape to allow the vegetation to still be the central attraction. The impact to the environment was minimized through a light structure that seems to float above the lake.
Although the original idea was to use wood for the entire project for a warmer and more natural approach, the designers settled for a more practical choice to reduce the implementation costs. The Japanese aesthetic was the main source of inspiration with its simple and efficient design, so there are two main volumes connected together, each of them hosting different functions, so the kitchen, storage areas and changing rooms are in the smaller volume and the larger one is reserved for the clients.
