Located on the island of Odderoya, Kristiansand in Norway, the Kilden Performing Arts Centre is a unique venue designed by the ALA Architects practice from Finland and it combines a large concert hall with a theater and opera hall along with two additional smaller halls making it the new home for the Agder Theater Company, for the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra and for the Opera Sor.

The project is an iconic landmark in the city and its wooden façade undulates to resemble a theatre curtain offering a strong contrast to the industrial surrounding while also acting as a transition point between the reality of each day and the creative realm of fantasy.

The exterior uses materials like oak wood, glass, aluminum and natural stone but the interior wants to make you feel as if you really step into another world with an efficient design that has a straightforward layout.

The project ensures great acoustics due to the use of concrete and the corrugated oak wall in the foyer was also created for the sound qualities it offers with insulation provided by ROCKWOOL International A/S to absorb the excess noise.
