The Khalifa International Stadium is the latest stadium unveiled for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the project has an increased seating capacity of 40000 as well as a cooling technology that will maintain the temperature inside at an optimal 26 degrees Celsius.

The stadium is on the outskirts of Doha and was originally constructed in 1976 with the refurbishment also planned to add food courts, retail spaces, multi-purpose rooms, VIP lounges and a health center. Aside from the sports arenas the area is occupied by a museum on the site for the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum offering interactive exhibits and historic trophies on display.

The project includes the development of an integrated transport network to connect the stadium with public transport and two new venues are expected to be revealed in the future, with constructions planned to begin at the end of 2014 to be completed in time for the expected events.
