The Duk Meyersdal house was designed by the practice of Nico van der Meulen Architects with an open plan and a focus on outdoor living so that there are views of the garden from each room and the living areas flow into the covered patio to blur the definition of outdoor and indoor.

The home resides in a nature reserve that provides both security and beauty, the project was built with natural materials that create a structure which blends itself into the setting with discretion while the interior uses a more joyous palette on the textures and furnishings.

The entrance is toward the south and this allows the entire northern façade to open to the garden with the site sloping upwards in this direction so that the garden had to be stepped and terraced. Due to the slope the designers had t ensure that there is a connection between the garden and the house so the swimming pool area was leveled and the upper parts of the garden were terraced.
