The first indoor velodrome in Hong Kong was designed by the P&T Group in 2013 for the local athletes as well as for the Hong Kong Cycling Team, providing an international standard venue where they can train.
There are track cycling training courses for beginners and the residents of the Tseung Kwan O region can also enjoy the park surrounding the velodrome where various leisure activities can take place. The multi-purpose arena provides additional facilities as well such as a fitness room, dance room, children’s playroom, a restaurant and a bicycle pro-shop. The venue has a landscape deck to connect it with the park and public access is improved though the implementation of pedestrian footbridges.
The equipment inside is of a high quality and it ensures a suitable space for world-class events, adding a landmark to the city with an elliptical shape inspired from the profile of a bicycle helmet. The ribbed roof seems to be floating above the park and the interior has a cycling track with a length of 250 meters to meet the standards of the Union Cycliste International as a category 1 velodrome.
