The Luigi Valente architectural practice designed in 2011 a project named Home/Unusual Store in the town of Venafro, Italy.

From their description of the project, they took their ideas from the Depeche Mode song Home (hence its name) and from the photographer Anton Corbijn’s pictures of the band which were taken in black and white and a somber manner.

Their idea was to transpose the clients into another place, and to give emphasis to the texture and importance of the clothes through designing the space as if it were a display.

This design will enhance the lighting with the aid of the pitch black ceiling and turn the walls into a hanger for the clothes. The bleak grey, giving everything an industrial feel will contrast with the clothes shown and the walls also contain several lines of text taken from the above mentioned Depeche Mode song.

Luigi Valente managed to turn the store into an indeed unusual one and we are quite curious to see if it proves an efficient way of attracting the customer’s attention to the clothes, or distracting it towards the text above them.
