HECTAAR is a property development company and their new office building in Roeselare, Belgium was designed by the practice of CAAN Architecten on a corner site which was formerly occupied by a fueling station so it is on a large traffic intersection where the architectural styles vary greatly.
The designers stacked several volumes onto one another with different orientations to offer varied viewpoints. The first floor goes beyond the building line and the complex is withdrawn on the ground floor which hosts the entrance, meeting room, technical spaces, toilets and storage area.
The actual office is located on the first floor with an orientation toward the crossroad and above it is a third volume which functions as a meeting room while also integrating the entire structure better into the urban context.
The exterior was designed to resemble storage containers with 5 cm gaps to give the impression of floating volumes. The interior has white ceiling and walls with polished concrete floor and the furniture uses warm colors and different wood types to create a varied ambiance.
