This superb house can be found in Haifa, Israel and it was designed by Pitsou Kedem Architects. The house is placed right in the center of a very important historic avenue in Haifa’s French Carmel neighborhood. The area is filled with lovely residences, most of them being built in the Bauhaus style.
The style is known for its simplicity –starting with the colours and ending with the facades and finishes. But this house in particular is a bit different than the rest because it combines the Bauhaus style with a contemporary touch when it comes to house designs.
The structure reminds us of many things, because it does include the minimalism so specific of Japan but it also offers a design that is the embodiment of the 1950`s moderation as well. The Haifa House is a place of contrasts, just like the Israeli environment and history – the private residence is both simple and sophisticated at the same time.
The Pitsou Kedem Architects added secondary spaces in the design of the house to emphasize on the idea of interaction and continuity. All the rooms in the house seem full of light and the main central space is open and huge. All the spaces in the residence are well defined and they present the idea of intimacy and seclusion.
