The practice of IROJE KHM Architects combined modern architecture with the local traditional style to create this GaOnJai expo town in GangNam, South Korea.

About 20 years ago, the government of South Korea created an expo town in which the famous architects of those times would create the buildings and GaOnJai was one of the settings for the expo so the current architects recreated the project for a client who wishes ecology and useful landuse would open and illuminate the dark inner spaces to allow a view of the surrounding mountains, while also preserving intimacy and security.

The new project integrates the interior with the exterior and the environment acts as a tour experience in which every section is of interest making it impossible to become bored of this house. Acting as a microcosm, there are plants and trees integrated in each area and the labyrinthine stairways allow multiple ways of going from one area to another.
