A competition was recently organized to design a residential housing complex for the western part of Paris in La Defence and the winner was London studio Farshid Moussavi Architecture. Their project consisted of a wonderful 11,430 m2 building that can comprise 7,500m2 of residential units, 2,930m2 of student accommodation and 1,000m2 of retail space.

The residential complex is part of a larger project called La Parvis Jardin de l’Arché.This urban area connects La Défense with les Terrasses de Nanterre. The new Arena Stadium is part of the project, too as well as a hotel. The architects are working for the client known as Les Nouveaux Constructeurs in association with l’Epadesa,a public planning authority.

The residential complex will overlook the famous La Grande Axe. The residential units will look the same. The balconies and loggias will have an oblique aspect because the floors will be rotated by two degrees. The building will function as many things: shops and boutiques will occupy the ground floor and three floors of the residence will be reserved for student accommodation. It will be a ten storey residence.
