The Faustino Winery is the first winery designed by the architectural practice of Foster + Partners and it is located in one of the most important wine producing areas of Spain, in the Ribera del Duero, bringing a breath of fresh air into the natural setting with an aesthetic that integrates into the topography to ensure optimal working conditions.
The tripartite layout reflects the main process stages: fermentation, aging in oak barrels and aging in bottles, while the central core is where you can find the visitors facilities and the support sections. The mezzanine level hosts the public areas with a restaurant that provides an overview of the landscape. The aging of the wine is carried out in two volumes buried into the slope of the site to take advantage of the natural thermal cooling and the facility has a capacity of one million bottles per year.
The structure spreads over a surface of 12500 square meters with concrete covered in shingles of Corten steel.
