The Takapuna House is probably one of the most beautiful homes from New Zeeland right now, an exotic villa with a modern feel built in a perfect landscape. The home was initially designed in the early 1980s by architect Ron Sang but the current owners have rebuilt it completely working with Julian Guthrie and Godward Guthrie Architects.
The architects had the tough task to strip down the original house to its structural shell and modify the internal planning of the house to create a much stronger connection between the inside and outside spaces and between the upper and lower levels of the home. That’s how they managed to create this beautiful contemporary villa with straight lines, simple shapes and big floor to ceiling windows that allow guests to enjoy stunning views of the surroundings.
Minimalistic detailing was used with a simple palette of white and bleacher timber to provide a casual beach living quality, complimenting the owners furnishings and art. This home probably captivates everyone looking at it and visiting it and inspires peacefulness and relaxation.
