The studio of Buro Ole Scheeren released the plans for a pair of towers called “DUO” in the Singapore metropolis which will have a mixed use and a high rise development. Although similar in design they are planned as two autonomous structures but due to their curved facades they also create an impressive effect through the spaces they leave empty.

The project is expected to be completed in 2017 and the constructions will begin next year. The building is planned to host the “new civic nucleus” at the base, with premium offices, a five star hotel, retail space and 660 high-end residential units. Environmental strategies were incorporated in the design using passive and active energy and focusing on naturally ventilated spaces through the buildings’ orientation.

The landscape surrounding the buildings will consist of leisure zones and gardens which act as a linking element between the transport hubs and also act as beautification for the area with the aid of the tropical vegetation. The center in-between the towers will host a plaza which integrates the neighboring building into the perimeter and also creates a nexus between the Kampong Glam district and the commercial corridor.
