The Drygate Brewing Co. is the first experiential craft brewery in the UK offering an industrial style designed by the Graven Images architectural practice and it is located in the East End of Glasgow in the place of a former warehouse built in the 1960s.
The warehouse spread over two levels and they host a restaurant, bar, events and gallery space, a Studio Kit area where you can brew your own beer and a terrace on the roof. The project is a collaboration between the William Bros. Brewing Co. and the Vintage gastro-pub in Leith, while its aesthetic was created by Graven Images with D8 providing the visual identity with artworks from the graduates of the Glasgow School of Art.
The structure has a dark grey tone to set the industrial atmosphere and the materials combine its former uses with warm tones. There is a staircase of concrete and there is interplay of warm and cold materials such as mild steel, solid wood, cast concrete and polished copper for the bar to bring the former warehouse back to contemporary times.
