Located in Singapore, the Diamond House was designed by the practice of Formwerkz Architects along the Cove Drive in Sentosa.
The project’s site is tapered and oriented toward a manmade lake providing a good view and a calm setting. The owners are a small family which wants to have privacy so that the house was set toward the lake with its back to the street.
The house has a single monolithic volume with the entrance leading you right in the center of the house where the living and dining spaces are located on the sides. On the upper floors there are two volumes, one hosting the daughter’s bedroom and the other one the parents’.
There is also a basement which contains a guest room, an entertainment area and a garage and this floor is ventilated and illuminated through the sunken courtyards reducing the energy requirements.
The garden space was very important so that the geometry of the building was designed in such a way as to maximize this area with the front and side facades pared down and featuring openings that take most advantage from the natural light without reducing the privacy.
