The Desi Residence located in Tala, Cyprus is a contemporary home spread over three levels and created by the Varda Studio with an unusual layout since the top level is occupied by the car parking area enclosed in vertical louvers.
The house is set on a steep hill site and thus the road level ends up at the top of the house with a panoramic view of the nearby sea. The lower levels have cantilevered terraces and a swimming pool to ensure a great view of the suburban village and since half of the house is set into the hill this ensures additional insulation for the interior.
The living area integrates the dining space and kitchen while also extending to the terrace and the secondary functions such as bathrooms or storage areas were placed in the deeper areas of the plan on each of the floors. The layout makes the structure stand out from the areas below it while at the street level it only appears as a discreet single floor structure.
