Clarion Hotel and Congress Trondheim by Space Group

The Clarion Hotel and Congress in Trondheim, Norway was nominated for the best hotels and resorts category in the Architizer A+ awards and it was designed by the Space Group architectural practice.

The hotel opened in April 2012 with a strong identity and a design that challenges the typical atrium hotel. The rooms are arranged in tour structures and each is oriented to offer a good view. Due to the rotation the atrium becomes a star shaped lobby and instead of exposing everything in a centralized space the lobby here is dynamic with a programmed roof and shifts between exposure and privacy.

The ground level is open to public access and there are cross connections between the reception, elevators, lobby bar restaurant, exhibition area and the conference space to increase the overall functionality. There is a nearby park and the south west area hosts several terraces where outdoor dining can be arranged.
