The CHOW restaurant recently opened in the Surry Hills region of Sydney, Australia offers a Chinese eating and drinking experience with a joyful ambiance filled with games and the project was designed by the Giant Design studio in collaboration with Babekuhl.

The restaurateur and chef of the place is Chui Lee Luk who was born in Malaysia and wishes to bring the most beloved Asian flavors into the Australian capital with an inviting backdrop to complete the offer. The designers borrowed elements from various sources to create an eclectic amalgamation of British pubs, Chinese restaurants, street food carts and gaming dens hinting at icons from the Asian cinema and reminding the visitors of the Hong Kong streetscapes.

The seating areas have benches and a background of polished interiors with exposed plaster walls adding contrast, a JCB ceiling with beams and suspended illumination to create a dark industrial ambiance. The bar has an olive green tiling lining that is reminiscent of the early 1900s Parisian counters, still visible in metro stations or hotels from the French capital and this adds an additional charm to the already diverse interior.
