The original Chestnut Hill Residence was built in 1983 and the owners decided to renovate it into a more contemporary and brighter home with the aid of the architectural practice of A+SL Studios and OMA.
The house is located in Brookline, Massachusetts and its renovation focused on making it have a more open plan with the addition of a new passage along its south area. The ceilings were also raised in the living room to make the room brighter and the combination of white walls and large windows permits it to connect better with the nature surrounding it while also adding a feeling of extra space.
The wooden frames of the windows, the wooden furniture and flooring contrast the neutral ceiling and walls to transform the space into a warmer and cozier ambiance which is better suited for a growing family. Due to the owners’ interest in green design the project features a lot of technological upgrades which make it more sustainable and the materials used are also eco-friendly.
