Chelsea Penthouse by Architecture in Formation

This duplex penthouse is a sleek and contemporary project located in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City and it features a design created by Matthew Bremer from the Architecture in Formation practice.

The project spreads over a surface of 1500 square feet and features modern tones with a sophisticated ambiance defined by the digital fabrication methods such as CNC milling for the wall panels that try to recreate the Manhattan nightscape lights with white tones that are backlit with LEDs.

The color palette is neutral and it allows the attention of the visitors to focus on the other details such as the Corian staircase that is cantilevered and gives access to the upper level or the sculptural white bench below it.

The living area is separated from the rest of the social zones through the staircase and this way no additional partitions were needed and the upper floor is occupied by two bedrooms and bathrooms with the same dashed pattern seen below.
