Located in Joo Chiat Ln, Singapore, the Brick Loft was designed by the FARM studio which also designed the Wall House we covered here.
The project was created in 2011 and it was previously an office unit on the second floor of a shop house. The designers took down the unnecessary walls in order to create an outdoor verandah right at the entrance and this allowed a stronger connection with the exterior as well as more natural light inside.
Glass sliding doors and rooftop louvres were used to bring more light in the bedroom at the mezzanine and the loft has an industrial aesthetic due to the materials used. The concrete ventilation blocks gave the designers the inspiration for an abstracted pattern which was brought into the living room in the shape of a laser-cut metal screen folding door.
The bricks were left visible and wall shelves were added to increase the storage space.
