Baobed is a double bed with an encasing similar to that of a cocoon and the project was designed by the Baobed Concept studio as a small sleeping capsule which can be suspended from a tree to offer a treehouse for the adventurous persons.

The project is highly versatile and it can be placed on various surfaces such as on a beach, a rooftop or even in a pond and the name and shape take their inspiration from the exotic fruit dangling from the baobab tree which is known as the tree of life in Africa.

The Baobed is easily transported since it only weighs 992 pounds when it is empty and its shape is of 13 feet in length and 6.5 feet in width. The shell is made of an UV resistant material and the designers offer a large array of additional features such as mattresses, bedding, a small platform to access the interior, a suspension kit, floor installation support, mosquito nets and storage pockets.
