Although it looks like a village, the area in which the headquarters is located is filled with residences and it`s situated along an old railway line. The German company ARCA-Regler GmbH wanted a new look for their headquarters, something different than the usual image of a warehouse or of an industrial building.

They wanted a building to represent their logo and to fit the neighbourhood. It`s a two story structure and the floor is about 2100 sqm and the façade looks like a belt because it makes its way into the terrain surrounding the building. The headquarters has two main functions: it works as an office space but also as an production center.

The front glass structure is the office space while the metallic structure houses the production and development rooms. The two structures are divided by the staircase and sanitary facilities. The designers chose to go with a sustainable design and this is how the façade is a double skin structure, the outside glass skin keeps the solar radiation from affecting the working environment.

The second layer has a weatherproof system where employees usually gather to take their meals. Even if it`s an industrial building, the headquarters functions only on regenerative energies. The heating and cooling capacity is offered with the use of geothermal probes, thus reducing the energy waste.
