Apple is currently planning to build what is probably going to be the coolest office building ever in Cupertino, CA, a massive spaceship-looking building dubbed as the “Apple Campus 2“. The building, designed by Foster + Partners, is apparently so important to the company, that Steve Jobs himself went to a Cupertino City Council meeting to seal the deal a couple of months ago.
A couple of days ago more detailed plans about the project emerged on the city’s website. Located on a 175 acre area near the 280 highway, the total building will be approximately 2.8 million square feet and will even feature a 1,000 seat auditorium, perfect for Apple’s biggest events, a fitness center, 300,000 square feet of research facilities, a power plant and underground parking.
Cupertino says that they still have to review the environmental impact of the project and have a few more public hearings before it will get the green light. Apple plans to break ground next year and have the new headquarters done in 2015. This massive spaceship building will house over 12,000 employees.
