The Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht Hotel was designed by Marcel Wanders to replace an old library building built 35 years ago.

There are 122 guest rooms with custom made wallpapers in each of them and the hotel also offers a restaurant, bar, lounge and a library on the ground floor.s

Located in the centre of Amsterdam, the hotel has chandeliers inside giant bells and wallpaper that is a combination of fish and cutlery to give the place a unique design that is reminiscent of the history of the city. These elements are combined with images from old books to honor the former purpose of the building.

There are various styles that are combined in the design with furniture and decorations that remind of the Dutch Golden Age combined with Delft ceramics, tulips and orange spots all trying to create a truly locally themed interior.

The lobby hosts an installation that recreates a constellation of stars and planets below a large skylight to remind the visitors of the old astronomical tradition of the city and transforming the hotel into a place filled with curiosities from the past.
