This project is a refurbishment of the Bauernfeldplatz in 1090 Vienna and it features a restaurant on multiple levels. The building also has a sun garden constructed in 1913 that the designers chose to rehabilitate rather than remove it, since it provides a way of linking the different areas through portals in the windows.
The original placement of the rooms wasn’t considered useful to the designers, with the kitchen in the mezzanine, the guest room in the basement and the staircase in the way of the guests, so they chose to recreate a staircase that connects all the four levels and they rearranged the rooms so that the kitchen is now in the basement and the guest room now allows the inhabitants to have a great view of the surroundings.
The guest room is spread around the main core of the building and the bars and fireplaces are emphasized through staging and gold coatings. This area is also 2.40 meters above the road allowing light and air to enter and provide ventilation for the smoking area while also offering a view of the Bauernfeldplatz.
